Marching Beyond Halftime

Thank you: On behalf of the Lake Brantley High School Band Boosters, I would like to thank each parent and student for a successful start to the 2016-2017 school year. Band Camp was extremely smooth because of all the planning, volunteers and the student cooperation that was shown during the week. The Band Camp Volunteers that helped in the kitchen prepared a snack for 400 people each day and served dinner for 400 people each day. We also had an awesome Uniform Distribution. The Uniform Committee always plans every detail for us so it runs smooth as possible.  Thank you to all that volunteered. Thanks to the parents for bringing your children on time and for their patience during the process. The Uniform Committee is the reason that our students look so good on the field! Student Accounts Mrs. Kanaga has been busy handling the sale of the SaveAround books ($25) and the Chick-fil-a calendars ($8). This is a great way to help pay for anything related to band. Examples are: Band participation fee, instrument usage rental, Seminole Festival Food, Pianist for Solo and Ensemble, hotel room for All State and etc. If you would like to place your order, please put money in an envelope with your student’s first and last name, amount included, total number of SaveAround books or Chick calendars and put it in the white box in the band office. Your student can bring the order to the band office. The information will be given to Mrs. Kanaga and your student may pick the order up on Tuesday or Thursday after band practice. Green Concession During the football games at the Lake Brantley Field, the band operates the Green Concession. The Green Concession is on the visitor’s side of the stadium. Please purchase your food and drink items from the band. All of the money that is made at concessions goes back to our program and your student. On the menu this year - Cheeseburgers, Grilled Cheese, Sausage & Peppers and Veggie Burgers. Please visit and see what they have to offer. Thank you again for your help! GO PATRIOTS! GO BIG BLUE!!!
Driver’s License Forms Thank you to all the parents who have already completed the Driver’s License form and turned it in. If you have not, please complete the form and return it with the $10 payment made out to Lake Brantley High School to the band room and I will write your name on our list and turn it in to the front office for you. If you plan to drive for any band event, you will have to have a DL form submitted to LB.  We need about 70 drivers for the Apple Canvass that will be on September 10 and 24. Please remember that this is the only mandatory fundraiser for the band students that we have for the year. It is very important to the Lake Brantley Band Program.

Marching Beyond Halftime is a documentary feature that will show the importance and significance of a solid music education. From discipline to listening to teamwork, this film will showcase what a great music education can do for a child. More importantly, it will focus on how the skills and bonds created in their music education will influence the rest of their lives no matter what path they take. We are excited to be working with The Lake Brantley High School Band and others in the Orlando area.  Once this project is finished, we plan to share Marching Beyond Halftime with our policy makers—those who control the budgets for arts programs across the country. Your directors, Mr. Wharton and Mrs. King, are excited to meet you and have you join the Lake Brantley Band.  Mr. Wharton has visited Teague and Rock Lake Middle Schools and have given you information for band next year.  Band camp is scheduled for August 1 through 5.  Two mini camps are also scheduled for July 12 and July 25 and 26.  Please make every effort to attend these camps.  Check the Calendar of Events below for more dates. It is very important that we have your updated contact information so we can mail you a band camp packet and band calendar in June. Check our website regularly for new information. Summer schedule and Band Camp schedule

   SCPS instrument Usage.  If your student would like to use an SCPS instrument, please e-mail Mrs. King to secure an instrument ASAP.   Send the following Information: Student first and last name Grade entering What instrument do you want to contract out? Is the instrument for concert or marching purposes? This is especially important for incoming freshman!   There will be 2 check-out dates prior to our first summer rehearsal.  Parent and student will need to come to the band room during one of the two time slots for their instruments. The instrument will be assigned, contracts must be signed by parent and student, and a $100.00 payment per instrument will be made out to Lake Brantley Band Boosters (LBBB).  If everyone e-mails the above information, instruments and contracts can be pre-assigned by check out time, minimizing wait time. more..
